Hello and welcome back!
It has been well over a year that I have updated anything on the blog. I do not know where to begin.
We are currently in limbo, due to my husband’s job. We have no clue where we will be headed to next. All we know is that we are due for a new duty station and like most things in the Army it is all a waiting game. In reality I just want to know what the orders will say so that we can begin to reorganize our life. It does not bother me one bit, having to relocate and set up our lives. We just appreciate a the bit of a heads up so that when we do move somewhere new, we have a good start and an easier transitions, mostly for the kids. Do not get me wrong, moving so often comes with its challenges. The stress of looking for schools, therapists, a new home, doctors, dentist and so on. I do enjoy the adventure of being somewhere new and being able to experience life in different parts of the United States. Now, we just wait to know our future.
Currently, we are attempting to decide whether we should keep our son in ABA therapy or graduate him. One of our boys is on the autism spectrum and his therapy has done amazing things for him and his life. He has grown so much and we appreciate all of the progress he has made, he has met all of his goals and the supervisors as well as his therapists believe that he meets his goals too quickly to keep him on as a case. It is a though decision because we do not want him to have any set backs since he is doing so well.
Our daughter, currently receives services for speech, physical and occupational therapy and has been making a lot of progress. She was born with some brain damage due to lack of oxygen in utero. (This is one of the main reasons I am not a big fan of people saying, “ I wish I had triplets”, “must be easy, one shot and done”. Pregnancy came with its challenges, and my daughter was a bit crammed in the womb, which did have a permanent effect on her. If you guys want to know about the pregnancy let mew know and I will gladly create a post about it.). She has made tremendous progress and is ahead of “schedule” in her motor development. Her underlying issues are mostly motor related and with therapies she has come a LONG way. Her neurologists did not believe she would walk until she was closer to five years old, yet she began to walk before she turned three. Now at four and a half she is starting to talk and make sentences. She still has a long way to go, but she is so determined that I know she will achieve greatness.
My other son is the spark in life. He has no problem giving his opinion and taking the reigns in any situation. Being a leader he is also one to want to help others and make sure that they succeed. I simply love that about him. He simply loves to help his siblings every chance he gets and is certainly their defender. Sometimes it is one of those situations of “only I can mess with my siblings”. He is a class clown who loves to get a good laugh out of people, whether it is dancing, making silly faces or telling jokes only he understand.
Don’t forget to let me know if there is anything you would like for me to touch base on.
Thank you for making it this far!
Diana J
